Eligibility

You can be a sole trader, limited company, charity or other business, and we can assist pre-starts in certain circumstances.

PopUp Wales is very broad, but there are certain eligibility criteria that you must meet in order for us to be able to help you.

I confirm that I/we:

  • understand that PopUp Wales will usually only be able to assist with one premises per local authority area
  • understand that premises must be within the designated areas that the PopUp Wales funding covers and that this varies by local authority
  • understand that the end use must be compatible with the planning classification of the premises
  • agree to comply with all relevant licensing requirements
  • understand that PopUp Wales can assist with rent free periods but do not guarantee a long-term rent free occupation
  • have a plan for how I will meet all other operating costs and understand that this will be my responsibility to meet all costs of operation
  • have public liability insurance and (if relevant) employers’ liability insurance in place before I can take occupation of a premises
  • will provide written employment contracts for any staff we employ
  • are not in arrears for business rates (including any BID levy payments where these are payable)
  • are not the subject of a winding up order, in administration, or otherwise insolvent
  • if the work we undertake in a popup space is specifically intended to work with children, young people or vulnerable adults, a safeguarding policy and procedure and risk assessment must be provided in writing to PopUp Wales before the space can be occupied
  • will not be using the premises for any of the following purposes:
    • ‘Adult entertainment’ or other sexual materials
    • Betting shops
    • Cigarettes, tobacco, or vape products
    • Pawn brokers
    • Promotion of religion
    • Promotion of a political party
  • understand that our details may be passed to the Local Authority.
